Spine & spinal cord tumors
With the gentlest method, we ensure effective, outpatient and rapid treatment.
Benign and malignant tumors of the spine are removed precisely and gently. The non-invasive CyberKnife technology enables effective treatment that protects the surrounding healthy tissue and preserves patients’ quality of life. The tumor is irradiated precisely, and the surrounding tissue is not damaged. The treatment time is very short.
Areas of application

Spinal neurinomas
These benign tumors of the nerve roots in the spinal cord, usually in the cervical and thoracic region, are successfully removed without surgery or a hospital stay.

Spinal metastases
They arise from the spread of cancer cells to the spine and can cause pain as well as neurological deficits. Our radiosurgery method enables precise, gentle treatment that is usually completed after a single session. Ideal for patients with a high surgical risk.

Spinal meningiomas
These usually benign, slow-growing tumors of the meninges on the spinal cord can compress nerve roots and impair their function. With CyberKnife technology, they are treated precisely and gently – often in just one session, without surgery.
Criteria for treatment with the CyberKnife®
- Tumors of the spine, such as neurinomas and meningiomas
- Metastases in the spine without instability
- Clear delineation of the tumor
Treatment process
The treatment is divided into preparation, irradiation and follow-up care, and is gentle and patient-friendly.
Preparation
Experienced physicians and physicists transfer the imaging data to the CyberKnife computer and precisely plan the beam alignment and dose for treating the tumors.
Irradiation
The relaxed CyberKnife session lasts an average of 20–30 minutes. Breaks are possible at any time. A brief concluding consultation follows, and you can return directly to everyday life.
Follow-up care
Regular clinical examinations and imaging procedures such as CT or MRI monitor the healing process. Depending on the diagnosis, the first follow-up appointment takes place about 3 to 6 months after treatment.
