Prostate cancer patients account for 70 percent of our treatments this year. This figure confirms the statistic of 7,000 new diagnoses in Austria per year, making it the most common disease among men.

First, the good news: After Cyberknife therapy, the chance of cure is over 90%. “Our treatment using modern radiosurgery is state-of-the-art, especially for tumors detected early and with an acceptable Gleason Score,” explains Dr. Alfred Haidenberger.

Elmar was one of our satisfied patients. After the PSA test, MRI, and the essential biopsy, it was clear to him that he did not want to undergo traditional surgery and thereby significantly risk his quality of life.

“My biggest fear was the side effects of traditional surgery. I spoke to many men my age and saw the limitations and burdens they had to endure in their daily lives.”

Elmar was fortunate to be informed in time. After an initial consultation with Dr. Haidenberger, he was educated about all treatment options. This phenomenon must be respected in discussions with affected individuals, and all therapy options for malignant prostate tumors must be made transparent.

Currently, there is no central screening strategy in Austria, such as the “mammogram screening” for women.
However, a multiparametric MRI result and PSA test are the basis for early detection. The Prostate-Specific Antigen test detects proteins that are exclusively produced by prostate cells and mostly in the glands of the organ.
This test is very sensitive, which unfortunately means it can sometimes yield false-positive results.
Age and genetic predisposition are major risk factors for prostate cancer.

The innovative radiosurgical treatment, which is outpatient, performed over 3-5 days, without invasive surgery and side effects, is clearly a blessing for every affected man.

“After all, incontinence and erectile dysfunction are among the most common consequences of treatment by surgery or traditional radiation therapy.

However, we not only see new diagnoses but also patients with recurrences after previous treatment. We can treat these tumors excellently with the S7 system used here!” Dr. Haidenberger happily states.

Aftercare

Dr. Alfred Haidenberger conducts regular check-ups in each individual case until he discharges his patients as cured. This happens in 95% of all cases!
